The best sommelier ever ranked in the ASI World competition representing Hong-Kong- China
Former sommelier of Joel Robuchon, Upper Moder Bistro and Van Gogh Senses in Hongkong, Reeze then became the brand ambassador of Château de Meursault and Château de Marsannay.
In parallel with his job, Reeze also competed (with success !) to different sommelier competition. After being elected the best sommelier of Greater China in 2016-2017, Reeze became in 2018 the 1st runner-up in the best Sommelier Asia-Oceania competition. Then, for his first participation to the ASI Wolrd Best Sommelier competition, Reeze achieved a great performance with a 16th place !
We had the chance to run a tasting of Lanson’s Black Reserve cuvee with Reeze. Here are his tasting notes:
Maison Lanson
Black Reserve
It was an impressive moment when I smell and taste the Lanson Black Reserve.
I was fascinated by its complexity. It has a pronounced aroma, such as red apple, pear, bitter orange. Beside the fruit notes, it also presents a toasty, bready bouquet like lemon butter on toast, brioche and come with a hint of nuttiness.
On the palate, it shows its concentration with tension, also shows its age and development. The delicate bubble and the lemony acidity cut through and balance out the touch of roundness. Full of flavor and finish with a savoury and beautiful long lasting.
Technical Sheet
The black reserve was created by Herve Dantan, the house winemaker, upon his arrival in 2013. The objective was to offer the Lanson house a new cuvee combinin freshness, complexity and fullness.
